Metals are solid at room temperature with the exception of mercury which is liquid at room temperatures.
Gold (Au), Silver (Ag), Aluminium (Al), etc are common metals.
Properties of metals:
Metals are a good conductor of electricity and heat.
Metals are used to make boxes and almirahs, as they can be beaten into thin sheets. This property of metals is called malleability.
Metals have high boiling and melting points.
For example, tungsten(W) and molybdenum(Mo) are considered as building materials at power plants because of their exceptionally high melting point, which allows enormous heat resistance.
Metals are ductile in nature.
It means metals can be stretched to make thin wires like copper (Cu), and nickel (Ni).
