The rules for writing a scientific name are:
1) The first word in a biological name represents the genus while the second one denotes the species name.
2) The first word denoting the genus starts with a capital letter while the species name starts with a small letter.
3) Both the genus and species name, when handwritten, are separately underlined or printed in italics.
4) Biological names are generally in Latin.
For example, The scientific name for mango is Mangifera indica.
