The enzyme inhibitors are molecules which can bind to the enzyme and reduce the activity. There are three types of inhibition, competitive, non-competitive and feedback. In the case of competitive inhibition, the inhibitor molecule is similar to the substrate and competes with the substrate for binding to the active site. In the case of non-competitive inhibition, the inhibitor molecule is not similar to the substrate and binds to the site other than the active site. In feedback mechanism, the accumulation of the product inhibits the enzyme activity by inactivating the enzyme.
