  1. The organisms belonging to the phylum Nematoda are also known as “roundworms”.
  2. Their body is bilaterally symmetrical and triploblastic.
  3. They are cylindrical.
  4. They are unsegmented vermiform animals.
  5. The epidermis has dorsal and ventral nerve cords.
  6. Body is covered with a tough, resistant cuticle; cilia are absent.
  7. Sexes are separate.
  8. Often females are longer than males.
  9. They have an organ system level of body organization.
  10. Alimentary canal is complete with a well-developed muscular pharynx.
  11. Examples are roundworms and pinworms.
