Let us take a line segment AB. 1. Take your compass and from A draw two arcs, one above AB and one below AB. The length of arc must be more than half of AB. 2. Keeping the compass at same length or position, draw two arcs from B to intercept already made arcs from A, both above and below AB. 3. Let us say, the arcs intersect at X and Y. 4. Join XY. 5. XY is perpendicular bisector of AB.
