The brilliant sitarist Pandit Ravi Shankar popularized Indian music all across the globe. Apart from composing the popular tune Saare Jahan se Achcha, he also composed for films like Meera, Goddan and Anuradha. He has won many awards such as the Padma Vibhushan, the Magsaysay Award (1992), the 1998 Polar Music Prize (which is considered the Nobel Prize of Music). He was also awarded the Bharat Ratna in the year 1999.
