(i) The abyssal zone is the entire dark zone of the ocean located below 1,000 meters. It is characterized by total darkness, very low temperatures, and extreme water pressures. Organisms of this zone are well adapted to withstand extremes of temperature and pressure, limited food availability.

(ii) The animals that had the broadest hooves were able to travel farther and find water more easily in dessert as this adaptation prevented their foot from sinking in the sand.

(iii) Polar bears have heavy fur and extra fat as an adaptation to survive in cold environment.
