Simple microscope Compound microscope
In a simple microscope, only one convex lens is used. In a compound microscope, two convex lenses, objective and eyepiece, are used.
The object is placed within the focal length of the convex lens. The object is placed beyond the focal length of the objective lens.
Magnifying power is much less than that of a compound microscope. Magnifying power is much greater than that of a simple microscope.
Used to observe minute parts of a watch, to read words in small print, etc. Used to observe blood corpuscles, plant and animal cells, etc.
