Solution
Photosynthesis is a process by which plants utilizes light energy and converts water and carbon dioxide into a glucose and oxygen. Glucose is used by plants for energy and to make other substances like cellulose and starch. As light intensity increases, the rate of photosynthesis increases keeping other factors adequately supplied. The rate of photosynthesis is proportionate to the intensity of light. However, as the rate increases, another factor will come into short supply. Hence, the rate of photosynthesis is limited by other factors. So the rate plateaus. Also, at very high light intensity, chlorophyll may be damaged. Hence, the light intensity becomes the limiting factor affecting rate of photosynthesis along with other factors like carbon dioxide concentration and temperature.
