When the light means photons incident on a metal surface, the electrons are emitting from metal surface, called photoelectric effect.
The Einstein's Photo-Electric equation : KEmax=hfW
Here, KEmax is the maximum kinetic energy of photo-electron, h is the Planck's constant, f is the frequency of incident light and W is the work function of the metal.
