When the light means photons incident on a metal surface, the electrons are emitting from metal surface, called photoelectric effect.

The Einstein's Photo-Electric equation : $K{E}_{max}=hf-W$

Here, $K{E}_{max}$ is the maximum kinetic energy of photo-electron, $h$ is the Planck's constant, $f$ is the frequency of incident light and $W$ is the work function of the metal.
