The Bhopal Gas Tragedy also known as the Bhopal Disaster was a gas leak incident that took place on the night of 2–3 December 1984 at the Union Carbide India Limited pesticide plant in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. Bhoapl Gas Tragedy is considered among the world's worst industrial disasters. About 5 Lakh people were exposed to Methyl Isocyanate Gas (MIC). Although the estimates vary the death toll , about 3,787 people lost their lives in this incident , as confirmed by the Government of Madhya Pradesh.
Family members of 3,787 victims killed in the gas release, and to 574,366 injured victims were given the compensation by the Government of Madhya Pradesh , in 2008.
