(i) Human genome project aims at determining the complete and accurate sequence of 3 billion nucleotide that makes the whole human DNA.

(ii) It aims to find out all estimated, 20000 to 25000 genes, in human.

(iii) It also aims at sequencing entire genome of several organisms which are important in medical research.

(iv) Identification of disease-causing genes and their elimination.

(v) To introduce new genes that code for desired protein products.
