In the above figure, out of hundred equal parts, forty-five parts are shaded. The shaded part represents forty five-hundredths of the whole figure and it is equivalent to the fraction $\frac{45}{100}$

Now, Write the numerator of a required fraction and put the decimal point by leaving as many digits from the right as there are zeros in the denominator of the given fraction.

$\Rightarrow \frac{45}{100}=0.45$ (Putting decimal by leaving 2 digits from right)
Thus $0.45$ is the decimal form of the shaded portion.
