1. Lenticels are porous tissues which consist cells with large inter cellular spaces.
2. These are tissues formed by secondary growth of the plant and hence, are found only in old and woody parts of the plant like bark.

Function:

1. Lenticels facilitate the release of water vapour by lenticular transpiration from old and woody parts of the plant.
2. These lenticels also help in exchange of gases.
