Write Pythagorean triplet whose one member is

6

Open in App
Solution

For any natural number m > 1,

we have (2m) ² + (m2 – 1)² = (m2 + 1)² .

So,

2m, m² – 1 and m² + 1 forms a Pythagorean triplet.

Let 2m = 6
m = 3

m²+ 1 = 3² + 1= 9 + 1 = 10

m²- 1 = 3 2 - 1 = 9 - 1 = 8

check:

6 ² + 8² = 36 + 64 = 100 = 10²

Hence, the triplet is 6, 8 & 10
