Solution

Reactions : 1 Mark each
Concept : 1 Mark

(i) 2Mg+O22MgO
(ii) Mg+2H2OMg(OH)2+H2
(iii) Mg+2HClMgCl2+H2
(iv) Mg+ZnCl2MgCl2+Zn

Whether a reaction will lead to displacement of the metal depends on the relative position of the two metals in the metal reactivity series. A metal (say M) can displace any metal which lies below it in the reactivity series.
