Why is trade enquiry essential in Import Trade?

Trade enquiry is the letter written by an importer to the exporter requesting him to provide the information about the goods that he wants to import. It is an important document as it contains various information such as price, terms, conditions, quantity, quality, etc. of the goods the importer wants to import. In reply to this enquiry, the exporter issues a proforma invoice, in which he provides all the requisite information about the goods along with the terms and conditions related to the trade.
