Skull is a bony structure which forms the head in the human body. This structure basically supports the structures of face as well as it also forms the cavity of brain. The skull is composed of two set of bones- cranial and facial bone that totals to 22 bones. Cranial bones are 8 in number which forms the hard protective outer covering, cranium for the brain. The facial region is made up 14 bones which form the front part of the skull, the skull region articulates with the superior region of vertebral column with the help of two occipital condyles. Skull protects the brain from injury.
