Higher the life expectancy, higher is the level of human development. According to the census of 2011, the life expectancy of an Indian is 66.8 years.
2. Literacy refers to the percentage of the population above 7 years of age who can read and write in any of the languages along with the ability to understand. It is an important tool used for measuring the HDI and the level of development of a country. Higher the literacy rate, higher is the level of human development. According to the 2011 census, literacy rate was measured at 74% of the population.
