District Special Employment Programme (SEP) was launched in 1992-93 to provide employment to 10,000 persons per backward district. This programme is basically concerned with the private enterprises. Till now, 71 backward districts in 24 states are covered under this scheme. It covers states like Nagaland, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Rajasthan, Kerala and Karnataka.
