MIGA stands for the Multinational Investment Guarantee Agency. It was established in April 1988, with the objective of encouraging foreign direct investment (FDI) in less developed countries of the world. This agency aims at insuring investors against various political and non-commercial risks, providing advisory services, etc. It also compliments the working of IDA and IBRD which aims at reducing poverty in different nations of the world.
