AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) is a sexually transmitted disease caused by a RNA virus known as Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
HIV virus attacks white blood cells (WBCs) or lymphocytes (T4helper cells) of human beings and weakens the human body's immunity or self- defence mechanism.
Aids spread by: Sexual contact with unknown people, blood transfusion, sharing of needles, from infected mother to child during pregnancy.
