Solution
Glycosides:
Glycosides are referred to as crystalline colourless solids.
They are soluble both in alcohol & water.
Dilute acids and enzymes cause the hydrolysis of glycosides.
Glycosides are referred to be the acetal derivatives of monosaccharides along with alcohol formed due to an acid catalyst.
Glycosides are stable to alkaline oxidants such as Tollen’s reagent, but, hydrolyzed back to their alcohol and sugar components by aqueous acid.
