Write short notes on seed germination with the help of diagram.

Germination is the process of formation of a new plant from seed in favorable conditions.
Steps involved are:-
  1. It can start germinating by observing the conditions around like depth of soil, availability of water and oxygen and temperature.
  2. Water is available in the adequate amount the process of imbibition occurs and enzymes get triggered by which the seed coat get soft and finally broken.
  3. The root emerges first to make sure the absorption of sufficient water and minerals.
  4. The plumule grows into shoot and auxin starts their division as soon as light drops on it.
  5. Finally, the leaves start growing from cotyledons and make food for the plant.
