  • Gas is a state of matter made up of particles with no defined volume or structure.
  • Examples are oxygen as well as carbon dioxide.

Characteristics of gases:

  • They must be lighter in weight than liquids and solids.
  • They can be compacted easily.
  • The gases completely mix all specified proportions without the use of any mechanical aid.
  • They use the same amount of pressure in all directions.
  • The intermolecular forces between gaseous particles are negligible.
