Toys can throw light on the history and technological development. We can also get a glimpse of religious and cultural traditions through them. Model forts are made in traditional Diwali celebrations in Maharashtra. Clay images of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his soldiers, people and animals are placed on these model forts. Toys are used in other festivals like Makar Sankranti, Durga puja, Gangaur, etc. to perform religious ceremonies.
