Question

Write the balanced chemical equation for the following:

Calcium bicarbonate reacts with dilute Hydrochloric acid.

Open in App
Solution

Reaction between Calcium bicarbonate and dilute Hydrochloric acid:

  • Dilute hydrochloric acid decomposes the salt of weak acids.
  • When Calcium bicarbonate (Ca(HCO3)2) reacts with dilute Hydrochloric acid (HCl), it will give Calcium chloride (CaCl2), water and Carbon dioxide gas (CO2) as a product.

Balanced chemical equation:

Ca(HCO3)2(s)Calciumbicarbonate+2HCl(aq)HydrochloricacidCaCl2(aq)Calciumchloride+2H2O(l)Water+2CO2(g)Carbondioxide
