Solution

Uses of Nitric acid:

Aqua-regia: It is a mixture of Nitric acid HNO3 by 1 volume and Hydrochloric acid HCl by 3 volumes.

2Au(s)+3HNO3(l)+11HCl(l)2HAuCl4(s)+3NOCl(g)+6H2O(l)

So by mixing Gold and Aqua regia, it produces a mixture of Chloroauric acid (HAuCl4) and Nitrosyl chlorideNOCl.
