Question

Write the balanced chemical equation for the reaction of Dilute Sulphuric acid and barium chloride solution?

Open in App
Solution

  • A chemical equation is the symbolic representation of a chemical reaction in the form of symbols and formulae, where the reactant entities are given on the left-hand side and the product entities on the right hand side with a plus sign between the entities in both the reactants and the products and an arrow that points towards the products, and shows the direction of the reaction.
  • When Barium chloride reacts with sulphuric acid, Barium sulphate and hydrochloric acid are the products. This is an example of precipitation reaction.

BaCl2 (s)+ H2SO4 (aq) ⇢ BaSO4(s) + 2HCl (aq)

A white precipitate of Barium sulphate is formed.
