Question

Write the balanced chemical equations for the following word equations:
(b). Magnesium +Sulphuric acidMagnesium sulphate+hydrogen

Open in App
Solution

The skeletal equation is:
Mg+H2SO4MgSO4+H2

Count the number of atoms of each element on either side of the reaction
  • Number of atoms on reactant side:
Mg=1, H=2, S=1, O=4
  • Number of atoms on the product side:
Mg=1, H=2, S=1, O=4

As there are equal number of atoms on reactant and product side
So, the balanced chemical equation for the reaction is:

Mg+H2SO4MgSO4+H2
