  1. Angiosperms are vascular plants with stems, roots, leaves, and seeds of the angiosperm found in a flower.
  2. The seeds develop inside the plant organs and form fruit.
  3. Hence, they are also known as flowering plants.

Characteristic features of Angiospermae:

  1. The flowers are the reproductive organs of the plant, providing them with a means of exchanging genetic information.
  2. The sporophyte is differentiated into stems, roots, and leaves.
  3. The vascular system has true vessels in the xylem and companion cells in the phloem.
  4. Angiosperms are heterosporous and produce two kinds of spores - microspores (pollen grains) and megaspores.
  5. The pollen grains transfer from the anther to the stigma and reproduction takes place by pollination.
  6. They are responsible for the transfer of genetic information from one flower to the other.
