Question

Write the chemical equation for the following:

Ferric hydroxide reacts with Nitric acid.

Open in App
Solution

Reaction between Ferric hydroxide and Nitric acid:

  • Nitric acid reacts with basic metal hydroxides to form their respective nitrates.
  • When Ferric hydroxide (Fe(OH)3) reacts with Nitric Acid (HNO3), it will give Ferric nitrate (Fe(NO3)3) and water as a product.
  • Since salt and water is produced in this reaction. So, this reaction is an example of neutralization reaction.

Balanced chemical equation :

Fe(OH)3(aq)Ferrichydroxide+3HNO3(aq)NitricacidFe(NO3)3(aq)Ferricnitrate+3H2O(l)Water
