Question

Write the chemical equation for the following?

Manganese dioxide heated with Aluminum.

Open in App
Solution

  • When Manganese dioxide (MnO2)is heated with an Aluminum (Al) displacement of Manganese (Mn) occurs.
  • Since, Aluminium is more reactive than Manganese, it is able to displace Manganese from Manganese dioxide.
  • Here, Manganese dioxide is reduced to(Mn).
  • Therefore, Aluminium acts as the reducing agent.
  • The reaction is as follows:

3MnO2(s)Manganesedioxide+4Al(s)Heat2Al2O3(s)Aluminiumoxide+3Mn(s)
