Question

Write the chemical equation of how nitrogen dioxide is formed from a metallic nitrate?

Open in App
Solution

By decomposition of lead nitrate, we get nitrogen dioxide in a laboratory.

When we heat the lead nitrate at a high temperature it decomposes into yellow colour lead oxide, brown colour fumes of nitrogen dioxide, and colourless oxygen gas.

2Pb(NO3)2(aq)2PbO(s)+NO2(g)+O2(g)Leadnitrateleadnitrogenoxidedioxide
