Dear Student WHEAT: It is the second most important food crop of India. The geographical conditions required for wheat cultivation are as follows a) It requires 14 to 18° C temperature. Higher temperatures are harmful to wheat. b) 50 to 100 cm of rainfall is required. c) Fertile alluvial or mixed soil is best for wheat. RICE: a) Temperature around 16 to 27°C and rainfall 100 to 200 cm . b) Alluvial friable loamy soil with impervious clayey subsoil is required. c) Rice is cultivated on plain land as stagnation of water is required. TEA : a) 21 to 29°C temperature and 150 to 250 cm of rainfall is required. b) It requires fertile mountain soil mixed with lime and iron . Soil should be rich in humus. c) Mountain slopes where there is heavy rain is best for tea because tea needs heavy rain but not stagnation of water . JOWAR : Rainfall - 30-100 cms. Rubber requires high temperature throughout the year,it needs a temperature of 20°-35°C or average monthly mean of 27°C and plenty of rainfall,soils needed are Deep, friable, well-drained soils and acidic soils.
