Solution

Dear Student WHEAT: It is the second most important food crop of India. The geographical conditions required for wheat cultivation are as follows a) It requires 14 to 18° C temperature. Higher temperatures are harmful to wheat. b) 50 to 100 cm of rainfall is required. c) Fertile alluvial or mixed soil is best for wheat. RICE: a) Temperature around 16 to 27°C and rainfall 100 to 200 cm . b) Alluvial friable loamy soil with impervious clayey subsoil is required. c) Rice is cultivated on plain land as stagnation of water is required. TEA : a) 21 to 29°C temperature and 150 to 250 cm of rainfall is required. b) It requires fertile mountain soil mixed with lime and iron . Soil should be rich in humus. c) Mountain slopes where there is heavy rain is best for tea because tea needs heavy rain but not stagnation of water . JOWAR : Rainfall - 30-100 cms. Soil - Black and shallow black soil Temperature - 25-30 degree Celsius RAGI : Rainfall - 50-100 cms. Soil - red, black, sandy and loamy soil Temperature - 20-30 degrees Celsius BAJRA Rainfall - 30-100 cms. Soil - Sandy, Shallow black soil Temperature- 25-30 degree Celsius Oilseeds: Tropical climate Temperature ranging between 20-30 degrees 50-75 cm of rainfall This crop does not withstand continuous drought, stagnant water Loamy red and yellow soil, black soil supports its growth. Coffee: Temperature-16-24° Rainfall- 60-85 inches Soil- deep, porous, well-drained soils, especially those of volcanic origin Wind- Shading with one or more layers of trees is practised in some tropical coffee-growing areas, but in the subtropics of Hawaii and Brazil it has been found to be unnecessary Sugarcane: Temperature-Optimum temperature required at the time of sprouting is 32° to 38°C. Rainfall-1100 and 1500 mm at the time of growth followed by dry period for ripening. Soil-sandy soils to clay loams & heavy clays. Labour requirement is high in sugarcane production. However, labour saving machinery and devices have been introduced which can do more than half of the work of labours. Rubber requires high temperature throughout the year,it needs a temperature of 20°-35°C or average monthly mean of 27°C and plenty of rainfall, soils needed are Deep, friable, well-drained soils and acidic soils.
