Condition for

(i) Constructive interference: Path difference ∆x must be an integral multiple of the wavelength of light.

i.e., Δx=nλ, where n=0,±1,±2,...

(ii) Destructive interference: Path difference Δx must be an odd multiple of half of the wavelength of light

i.e., Δx=(2n1)λ2, where n=±1,±2
