The bactericidal properties of brass use used in marine environments where it prevents biofouling. Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. The high malleability and workability, relatively good resistance to corrosion, have made brass a very useful material of construction of musical instruments.
Invar steel(alloy of nickel 36% and iron 64%) is used where high stability is required, such as precision instruments, clocks, seismic creep gauges, anti magnetic watches , engine valves.
