1. Nature Metals are electropositive in nature. Non-metals are electronegative in nature.
2. State Metals are solid. (except mercury). Non-metals exist in all the three states, i.e., solid, liquid and gas.
3. Metallic lustrous Metals are lustrous. They can be polished. Non-metals are non-lustrous. They cannot be polished.
4. Ductility Ductile Non-ductile
5. Reaction with acids Metals replace hydrogen from acids and form salts. Non-metals exists do not replace hydrogen from acids.
6. Reaction with oxygen in air Metals form basic oxides some of which to form alkalis. Non-metals form acidic or neutral oxides.
