An ion that consists of only a single atom with a charge is called a monoatomic ion.An ion that consists of a group of atoms with an overall charge is called a polyatomic ion.
For example - H+,Cl-,O2-,etc are monoatomic ions.For example - OH-,SO42-,NH4+,etc are monoatomic ions.
