Write the distribution of electrons in an atom of an element whose atomic number is 18. What is special about the outermost electron shell (or valence shell) of the atom of this element?

Its electronic configuration is 2, 8, 8 in the shells of K, L and M respectively. The signioficance of it's outermost shell is that it is full of electrons and so, it is a noble gas and is unreactive and will not form a charged particle.
