  • The arrangement of electrons in various energy levels(or shells)of an element is called electronic configuration.
  • The maximum number of electrons which can be accommodated in any shell of an atom is given by 2n2, here n is the number of shells or energy levels.

The electronic configuration of argon as given below.

Argon(Ar) - Atomic number = 18

Electronic configuration =2,8,8
