AIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.
The causal organism of AIDS is HIV (Human immunodeficiency virus).
It can be transferred from an infected person to a healthy person during sexual intercourse, sharing of infected needles, contact with infected blood, from mother to fetus at the time of pregnancy, and through breastfeeding.
There is no cure for treating HIV-AIDS. However, the complications of the disease can be controlled by medicines.
