Solution

Step 1: Conversion of word problem in to mathematical expression.

Sum of thirty and forty-seven added to the quotient of 63and 9.

According to the statement, Sum of thirty and forty-seven can be expressed as =(30+47)

Quotient of 63and 9 =63÷9,

Hence, Expression to given problem is =(30+47)+63÷9

Step 2. Simplification of expression.

As we know the BODMAS rule which tells about the order in which we should solve these kind of expressions.

B stands for Bracket that means we have to solve the values which are in brackets.

O stand for OFF, Similarly D stands for Division, M stands for Multiplication, A stands for Addition and S stands for Sutraction.

These operations we should follow in sequence ie, first Bracket then Off then Division, then Addition and then Subtraction.

In given problem, we observe,

(30+47)+63÷9=77+63÷9=77+7=84

Hence,Sum of thirty and forty-seven added to the quotient of 63and 9 is 84
