Question

Write the factors on which liquid pressure depends.

Open in App
Solution

The pressure at a point in a liquid depends on the following factors:

  1. Height of the liquid column (h): the pressure due to a liquid at a point inside the liquid increases with the height of the liquid column above that point.
  2. The density of the liquid (ρ): the pressure due to a liquid is directly proportional to its density, the greater the density of the liquid more is the pressure exerted by it.
  3. Acceleration due to gravity (g): the pressure due to a liquid at a point inside the liquid increases with the acceleration due to gravity at that point.

Mathrmatically, pressure P=ρgh.
