In the Roman Numerals system, there are seven basic symbols to write any numeral. The symbols are given below:

With the help of the above table, we can write the value in Hindu Arabic Numerals as:

CCXLVIII=100+100+(50-10)+8 (∡A smaller numeral appearing to the left of a larger numeral is always subtracted from the larger numeral, XL=50-10=40)

=200+40+8

=248

Therefore, the answer is 248
