Question

Write the forward and backward reaction of this chemical equation:
2NaCl (aq) + CaCO3 (s) Na2CO3 (aq) + CaCl2 (aq)

Open in App
Solution

So in this reaction nitrogen gas combines with hydrogen to form ammonia gas which is our forward reaction. So our reactants are nitrogen and hydrogen while ammonia is our product.

N2 (g) + 3H2 (g) 2NH3 (g) is forward reaction.

The product of a forward reaction becomes the reactant of a backward reaction. So in backward reaction, we can write ammonia which dissociates to nitrogen and hydrogen.

2NH3 (g) N2 (g) + 3H2 (g) is backward reaction.
