To find the fraction of a given figure (the coloured parts), represents as follow:

(i) Count the number of equal parts in which the figure is divided.

(ii) Count the number of shaded parts.

(iii) The fraction the shaded part represents =

$\frac{\text{Number of equal parts shaded}}{\text{Total number of parts in which the figure is equally divided}}$

$\therefore$The fractions shown in the diagrams are $\frac{4}{12},\frac{3}{9},\frac{2}{6},\frac{1}{3},\frac{6}{15}$ respectively.

Now, $\frac{4}{12}=\frac{1}{3},\frac{3}{9}=\frac{1}{3},\frac{2}{6}=\frac{1}{3}\frac{6}{15}=\frac{2}{5}$.

$\Rightarrow$ All of these fractions are not equivalent. $(\because \frac{6}{15}\ne \frac{1}{3}$, all the other fractions are equal to $\frac{1}{3})$
