HIV:

1. HIV stands for Human immunodeficiency virus.
2. It is the causative organism for Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome(AIDS).
3. It is an RNA virus discovered by Professor Luc Montagnier in 1983.
4. The human immunodeficiency virus attacks the CD4 cells of the human host and reduces the count of immune cells in the body.
5. If the count of immune cells decreases below the expected levels, then the person becomes immunocompromised, and this stage is known as AIDS.

OC:

1. OC stands for oral contraceptives.
2. These are also called pills.
3. These pills contain estrogens and progesterone hormone or progesterone alone.
4. The female takes these to prevent pregnancy.
