Solution

A variable number tandem repeat (VNTR) is a location in a genome where a short nucleotide sequence is organized as a tandem repeat. These can be found on many chromosomes, and often show variations in length among individuals. They are short nucleotide sequences (20–100 bp) that vary in copy number in bacterial genomes. They are thought to arise through DNA strand slippage during replication and are of unknown function. But VNTR is different from a probe that is VNTR show a high level of polymorphism and probe show the smaller size of DNA or RNA fragments.
